Fifty years on: contrasts and connections in Educational Research

As the current editors, we are delighted to present the first issue in the 50th anniversarynyear of Educational Research, the international journal of the National Foundation fornEducational Research, UK (http://www.nfer.ac.uk). The long and close relationshipnbetween Educational Research and the National Foundation for Educational Researchn(NFER) began in November 1958, when ‘the Educational Research journal was launchednto provide a more substantial and frequently published journal replacing the Foundation’snslim-line Bulletin’ (Griffiths 2003, 31).
