Robertson states in her preface that this book is about developing leadership through professional coaching, and this is exactly what the book does. A comprehensive approach to building leadership capacity through coaching is provided in a step-by-step journey over twelve chapters divided into two main parts. The first investigates theory, the second practice. The book is wide-ranging and engages with: who the book is for; what leadership coaching is; when leadership coaching is appropriate; how to do leadership coaching with real world practical activities offered within the main body of the text; and why leadership coaching is helpful. Robertson has been a senior teacher, principal, assistant dean, head of department, and director. Such a varied career has enabled her to draw upon an extensive evidence base brought together from research conducted over 10 years in the field of leadership coaching.
