1. The third estimate of GDP growth for 2009Q2 yielded the expected upward revision from -0.7% to -0.6%, following upgrades to manufacturing and construction. However, offsetting downward revisions to prior quarters meant that the year-on-year decline remained at 5.5%.rn2. Survey data continues to suggest that the economy is recovering. The output component of the CIPS manufacturing survey has now been positive for four successive months, while the services balance for business activity reached a two-year high in September. That the balances for orders and new business have also moved into expansionary territory also provides grounds for optimism.
