The release of the quarterly national accounts saw the decline in GDP in Q1 revised down from an initial estimate of -1.9% to -2.4%, the worst outturn for over 50 years. The prior release of much weaker construction figures had already suggested a modest downward revision, but further downgrades in the service sector - and revisions to earlier quarters -mean output has now fallen by almost 5% from its 2008Q1 peak.
