Case history of an eighteen-year-old stutterer

An intelligent 18-year-old male stutterer,who has been receiving speech therapy atthe University of the Witwatersrand Speech,Voice and Hearing Clinic, for the past twoyears, was asked to write on his experiencesas a stutterer. His response, in the writer'sopinion, contains much valuable information,and appears to indicate many insights and achange of attitude. It is presented here (withhis permission), in the hope that it will be ofinterest to therapists in this field. A briefoutline of his case history, together with anoutline of the type of therapy given, will beincluded to supplement and place in contexthis contribution.
