Antioxidant Activity of Pterocarpan (Phaseolus vulgaris) A Priliminary Assesment of Crude Extracts

ABSTRACT The antioxidant activity of 80% ethanol and 70% acetone extracts of Pterocarpan (Phaseolus vulgaris) form dry seedsand podwere evaluated to determine their feasibility as natural antioxidants. The results showed that crude extracts were rich in total Phenolic compounds and had clear antioxidant activities. The free radical-scavenging capacity of the Pterocarpanextracts was determined using the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1picrylhydrazyl) method. The extracts obtained from dry seeds EC50 values .
