Hard objects, such as metal, stone, tree stump, etc., entirely buried into, or partly buried into, or revealed on the surface of superficial farmland soil with the depth of about 40 centimeters may hurt the cutter tools of agricultural machinery. They are also bad for seeding, fertilizing and so on. A ground penetrating radar (GPR) is used for exploring and locating the hard objects in the soil. This paper proposes the processing steps of the GPR radargrams acquired in an experiment of detecting hard objects buried in a piece of practical farmland with complex conditions and the interpretation of the result. This demonstrates that GPR is a feasible method for exploring hard objects in the superficial farmland soil.
