Ultrasound for the Diagnosis of Diverticulitis: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Diverticulitis is a commonly encountereddiagnosis in the emergency department (ED). Computedtomography (CT) of the abdomen and pelvis is the mostcommonly used imaging modality for diagnosis. However,CT has several disadvantages including radiation, cost,availability, and possible contrast-induced nephropathy.Ultrasound offers a portable, less costly alternative withoutradiation or contrast.
