Outcomes of Acute myeloid Leukemia (AML) with Favourable Cytogenetics in children treated on a Standard Chemotherapy Protocol followed by Metronomic Maintenance

Our approach of Mitoxantrone based induction seems to have better outcome in Indian setting. However, there is high induction mor- tality primarily due to sepsis. Recommendation: Strategies to reduce mortality due to sepsis can further improve survival with this approach. One such strategy could be stool surveillance and administration of sensitive antibiotics as empirical before culture reports is available. The other could be measures for rapid identi- fication of organism on blood culture.
