AstudywasmadeofdifferentwaysofofferingJackfruitnbsp;foliage[Artocarpusheterophyllus]togoats.Thefeedingmethodswere:freshleavesinthefeedtrough(L),thewholebranchhangingfromtheroofofthepen(B)orfoliagehangingnbsp;plusleavesinthefeedtrough(BL).nbsp;Theexperimentaldesignwasa3*3Latinsquarearrangementwith3goatsand3periodseachof7days.DMandcrudeproteinconcentrationswerehigherinleavesthaninthefoliage(leavesplusstems).ThegoatsatemoreDMwhentheywereofferedthefoliagehangingfromtheroofofthecage(486gDM/d).Intakewaslowestandeatingtimelongestwhenonlytheleaveswereofferedinthefeedtrough(282gDM/d).DMandOMdigestibilityandNretentionfollowedthesamepatternasDMintake,withhighestvaluesforhangingfoliageandlowestforleavesfedseparately.nbsp;TherewasnoeffectoffeedingmethodonrumenpHandrumenammonialevelswhichrangedfrom130to310mg/litre.Itisconcludedthatdrymatterintake,digestibilityandNretentionofjackfruitbygoatsishigherwhentheleavesareattachedtothestemandhungfromthewallsofthepen,comparedwithputtingonlytheleavesinafeedtrough.
