The modern world is rapidly developing, is changing revolutionary. Innovations affect all spheres of society. The economy of the state and industrial relations are radically changing. All innovations in society put new demands on staff. This entails new demands on educational institutions that provide workers. Especially assessment criteria to graduates of higher technical educational universities are changed. The author reveals the problems of higher technical education and ways of their solution. A new, innovative approach to project-oriented education CDIO and rapid development of e-learning and remote student support on the one hand gives a lot of advantages, but on the other hand gives a lot of problems. Positive results of all the innovative innovations will be visible only if the competent solution of the problems. This is the decision of the legal aspects and the update of curricula, training of experts, raising the status of teaching staff, the integration of science and practice and establishment of relations with enterprises. Only when all these relevant problems can be expected improving the quality of education, only in this case the state will have a new generation of engineers adapted to the new requirements of the time. Should the experience of other developed countries to learn, but not blindly, and taking into account the peculiarities of our State.
