Var nishe s used for the inner coatings of food cans are mostly base d on e po xy r esins or vinylic org anoso ls. The e poxy re sins ar e pr oduce d fr om bisphenol A and bisphe nol F and they also contain BADGE o r BFDGE as stabil-ising compo nents. A simple method for the quantitative dete rmination of bisphenol A (BPA), bisphenol F (BPF), b isphenol A digly cidy l ether (BADGE), and b ispheno l F diglycidyl ether (BFDGE) migrate d from food pack ag ing materials was o ptimised. The can sample was extracted with acetonitrile or with foo d simulants (distilled water, 3% acetic acid and 10% ethanol) and the extract obtaine d was analysed b y gas chromato graphy couple d with mass spectr ometric detector. The limits of detection and quantification rang ed b etween 0.15–0.86 and 0.51–2.77 μg/ dm2, r espe ctively. The migrating leve ls of bisphenols found in various can samples wer e fo r BPA and for BADGE in the range from 0.63 × 10–3to 0.34 mg/ dm2, and from 1.49 × 10–3to 3.67 mg/dm2, respective ly. BPF and BFDGE we re practically not dete cted in the can samples
