摘要

In the realm of medical education, teaching proceduralskills involves imparting a cognitive conceptualizationand a manual skill. To teach procedures successfully, medical educators must focus on teaching both athorough understanding of the cognitive aspects of theprocedure and the ‘‘hands on’’ component (Table 1).1–3Procedural skill acquisition is best addressed by firstmastering simple procedures such as suturing orincision and drainage and then building on those skillsto perform more complicated procedures.
