FEW SUCH GREAT ALLIANCES HAVE BEEN CREATED, or even restructured, with such cavalier superficiality as the new Australian alliance with the United Kingdom and United States: AUKUS. The lack of foundational thinking between the three partners is likely to soon result in cracks. Most significantly, the cracks could appear around US policies in the Horn of Africa, jeopardizing the Red Sea-Suez sea lanes which are critical to UK and Australian wellbeing.
