Cheese judging and other pastimes

One part of my job that feels less like work and more like a complete treat and honour is when I don my white coat, pop the cheese iron into my pocket and pin the badge that says 'Judge' onto my lapel. This year, I am heading to the International Cheese Awards at Nantwich but have been lucky enough to help judge cheeses at the World Cheese Awards (Birmingham) and the Global Cheese Awards out in Frame, UK. I also did a bit of day-long tasting at the Great Taste Awards, which is a jolly way of meeting people from other parts of the food industry, as well as eating some interesting tidbits made by people who are passionate about food.
