Taylor Wimpey won the first Olympic neighbourhood renovation contract thanks to a combination of local knowledge and large-scale capacity, chief executive Peter Redfern has said. The firm was appointed with L&Q housing association to build the first of five neighbourhoods at the Olympic Park and will invest £250 million in 870 homes on the 23-acre site where the basketball arena currently sits.
