Infrastructure spending plan aims to 'level-up UK'

The government has promised to kick-start growth, provide construction jobs and level up the UK with the release of its one-year Spending Review and multi-year National Infrastructure Strategy. Among commitments made by chancellor Rishi Sunak were: 1.£27.5bn investment in English roads until 2025; 2.A new £7.lbn National Home Building Fund; 3.£23bn funding for HS2 until 2025; and 4.£4bn for a 'Levelling Up' fund, to allow areas to bid for up to £20m to directly fund local projects.
