Scotland educates teachers in construction career choices

CIOB Scotland and Construction in Scotland held a unique event in March in Glasgow to talk to 80 schools on the vast array of career opportunities within the built environment. "The aim was to dispel the myth that construction was the path for disenfranchised kids who didn't see their future in further education, or indeed management but holds a world of opportunity in careers including management, engineering and surveying to name but a few," explains Lynne McKay, Scotland branch manager, "Similarly we wanted to convey that there is not just a massive shortage of skilled trade roles but that these can often act as the first step on the ladder for many who then go on to very senior management roles."
