The following comment was posted to our website, Construc-tionEquipment.com. It has been edited for grammar and style. "A small addendum to the 'DPF removal for cleaning' section of this excellent article: For engines over 173 horsepower, the EPA established a minimum servicing interval requirement of 4,500 hours. For engines under 173 horsepower, it is 3,000 hours. These numbers must be met to receive emissions certification, and a number of the engine companies are now stating that, in operation, the intervals are actually being exceeded-sometimes by a considerable number of hours. Users of equipment with DPFs fitted can use these numbers to plan for scheduled maintenance."
