If we are to achieve the level of fleet reliability required to excel in today's marketplace, fluid management is something we must proactively manage on a daily basis. There is a challenge that fleet managers face now: The lubricants industry is populated by engineers with full understanding of applicable technologies and end-user requirements, but the fuel industry is not. Lubricants are tested while in use multiple times, and when condition-monitoring specifications indicate that it's time to change them, we do it. Fuel gets used one time and is destroyed. The most immediately accessible evidence of its "clean and dry" quality is in the filters that it passes through to get to that final point of ignition.
