Special Report: Light Equipment, "Compacting in Small Spaces," by Walt Moore "Regarding engines for rammers, I would submit that the first chapter of the story for adoption of (small and inherently cleaner) 4-cycle engines was more driven by emissions regulations-whether actual or anticipated requirements to meet them-as the 2-cycle engines were quite effective and except for the occasional problem from fueling one without oil mixed with the gasoline. They were quite durable.
