China's Current Intellectual Property Plan, Policies & Practices

Good morning. Welcome to SMU Dedman School of Law. The law school and the Center for American International Law are the proud co-organizers for this symposium. Why did we decide to focus on intellectual property (IP) in China now? As a law professor in the United States, I have been frustrated for so many years by the media failing to report major changes in China with respect to intellectual-property innovations and policies. The reports that I have seen over the years have mainly focused on the negative aspects of China. I decided that it is time to change that with a symposium that looks to both the present and the future.
