THE EARLY MORNING scene at the yard of Spalding-based temperature controlled distribution operator CPT Distribution tells its own story; it's empty, apart from a couple of trucks that have been held back for our photoshoot, and their drivers are itching to go. "You can have them until 10am latest, then they have to be off," says transport operations director Paul James. As our photographer gets started, James explains that timing is everything in CPT's game, and with demanding customers expecting on-time deliveries every time, the firm's other 30 trucks are already well down the road. "We're in the fresh produce distribution business, and that's something that won't wait - it's as simple as that," he says.
