Spring 2011 will bring some important legal developments for the waste industry - new regulations to implement the revised European Waste Framework Directive (RVVFD) will come into force. The Government is also finalising new guidance for businesses and public bodies on interpreting the waste hierarchy. Around the same time the results of the Coalition Government's wide ranging consultation on waste policy will be made public, together with the outcome of a consultation on the legal definition of waste. This article provides a brief update on the current regulatory position, and how things may change as the year progresses.
