Discovering Architecture: How the World's Great Buildings Were Designed and Built

Great architecture is memorable and often visually stunning. It is fitting, then, that Discovering Architecture, which celebrates 50 of the world's greatest buildings from across the millennia, itself embodies those same characteristics. The large-format book devotes between four and six pages to each of the great buildings that it presents, and for each it offers a number of gorgeous full-color photographs. Making the work more of a delight, a full-page image of each structure is overlaid with a page with die-cut windows highlighting several parts of the building, and these parts are explained via captions on the overlay. The effect is both extremely clever and highly functional, and it enhances the reader's experience of paging through these masterpieces.
