New Saudi Airport Terminal to Launch First Phase of Expansion

A 700,000 m~2 passenger terminal building now under construction at King Abdulaziz International Airport, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is the centerpiece of the first phase of a major expansion plan that is expected to increase the airport's capac- ity to 30 million passengers a year by the end of 2014, up from its current capacity of about 17 million passengers. Subsequent phases will involve the construction of two additional satellite terminals and are expected to bring the airport's annual capacity to 43 million by 2025 and, ultimately, to 80 million by 2035.
