A 155-MHz BiCMOS automatic gain control amplifier

This paper proposes a 155-MHz automatic gain control (AGC)namplifier implemented in a double-poly-double-metal 1.0-Μm BiCMOSntechnology. The amplifier contains an exponential-type variable gainnamplifier, a buffer-based filter, and asynchronous demodulation peakndetector circuits. The initialization and the output magnitude setupncircuits are incorporated in the AGC amplifier. It yields an inputndynamic range of at least 26 dB and provides a constant output of 1 Vnpp at a 50-Ω load with AGC loop bandwidth of 80 kHz.nThe power consumption is 180 mW from a single 5-V supply
