TOTAL EAGER TO BECOME AGGRESSIVE IN CHINA'S OIL SECTOR

French oil giant Total intends to take a series of steps accelerate its business development in China in partnership with the nation's major oil companies. In late February, Total said it would finalize an agreement before July with China's biggest oil producer, PetroChina, to start exploration of a gas field in Ordos Basin in Northwestern China. The French company will sign a product-sharing contract (PSC) with PetroChina in the first half of the year for a gas field in the resource-rich basin, bordering four regions such as Shaanxi Province, Gansu Province, Ningxia Autonomous Region and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
