Butamax Advanced Biofuel (Wilmington, DE), a joint venture formed between Dupont and BP, has filed a patent infringement suit against isobutanol producer Gevo (Englewood, CO), which recently completed an initial public offering. The patent in question was issued on Dec 14, 2010 and covers biocatalysts developed to produce isobutanol and provides protection for Butamax and "its pioneering work in the field," Butamax says. The lawsuit was filed in US Federal district court in the District of Delaware.
