Armor Branch has become a conceptual anachronism. After a decade of infantry-centric wars in Southwest Asia, and a significant reduction in the Ml Abrams fleet due to modular restructuring, the massive tank corps of the Cold War no longer exists. In the place of sheer mechanized density, a new and more dynamic incarnation of America's mounted arm has assumed primacy, centered on the array of reconnaissance squadrons that now enjoy majority status in the armored community.
