Learning with Python

An 80-year-old boat will help children along the Chesterfield Canal to learn history, science, technology and ecology thanks to the Learning Boat Project. The brainchild of Geraint Coles of Chesterfield Canal Partnership, the plan is to use Python, originally a 70ft Fellows Morton & Clayton working boat later shortened to 53ft as a maintenance craft, as an educational resource. Python will be operated by ChesterfieldrnCanal Trust and carry exhibitions, artefacts, a stage and lockers full of costumes and props, and will stop at villages and towns along the canal to provide a range of education modules for all ages.
