You'll recall last month that I avoided setting the boat ablaze when I inadvertently discovered that the stove blanking plate was broken - it fell out at my feet. This was a good thing. The question was, to repair or not to repair... Answering that turned out to be relatively easy. After asking around (ahhh, friends, where would one be without them?) I discovered others had done much more serious stove repairs than I was contemplating. Having decided to repair, rather than replace, the need was to get started. And it was getting cold.
