I wasn't sure how the winter projects would go, given that I had been rather optimistic in the amount I could get done in the time available (this might not come as a surprise...). Optimism took a nosedive towards pessimism when I realised that setting aside four days for the kitchen refit wasn't even close. Turning back (I wish) wasn't an option so the most sensible approach was to divide the project into phases. The first job was to tackle everything below the gunwale, but once I got going, even that seemed somewhat unrealistic. The whole project seemed doomed.
