Explicit Road Safety in the Context of Design and Traffic Operations Choices

Road user safety is one of the top priorities of our transportation agencies and so it is expressed in their mission statements and goals. Much has been done in the past decades to improve the safety performance of our roads. However, we are still recording many traffic collisions daily resulting in about 3,000 persons killed and over 200,000 injured annually in Canada.
