Loblaws at Maple Leaf Gardens

When Toronto's hometown hockey team moved to a new state-W of-the-art facility in 1999, not only was their once vibrant arena silenced, but also the neighbourhood and the local economy was left deflated. Fast forward to 2012, and the storied facility on Carlton Street has been transformed into a hub of daily life. It is now a Loblaws retail and grocery store with underground parking and a soon-to-open athletic centre.
