I live in an area where the main bus operator is a multinational PLC. Over the past two years, I have lost count of how many drivers have said that the slightest infraction of some rule triggers a disciplinary hearing.More than one driver has said that they look each day at the brown envelopes to see if they have been summonsed to a meeting.I am trained to represent people in another industry and when I ask 'Did your union rep ask this or that question or did they demand evidence to support the employer's claim?' the answer is invariably 'No'. When I respond by saying 'It looks like your union rep is in the pocket of the management', the reply is in the affirmative.
