Six female non-obese outpatients (mean age 58 years), two of whom were of hyperliporoteinaemia Ⅱ a and four with hyperlipoprteinaemia Ⅱ b, were admitted to this study. All patients were treated with 3 different protein diet periods: one usual diet "A" (about 30 Kcal/daykg+260 mg/day cholesterol) and 2 therapeutic diets: "B" (unrestricted caloric intake + 160 mg/day cholesterol) "C" (unrestricted caloric intake + 20 mg/day cholesterol + Cholsoy L "soybean protein isolate" + lecithin) for two weeks each. The total fasting serum cholesterol, triglycerides, and HDL-cholesterol levels were determined. Biliary lipids on fasting bile, obtained by doudenal drainge, were evaluated at the end of each diet. Results revealed that: Diet "C" decreased the total cholesterol and increased the HDL-cholesterol. Triglycerieds were not affected. The molar percentage of cholesterol, phospholipids and bile acid in bile was unchanged.
