Assessing the energy performance of buildings has never been so simple not now that BRE's simplified building energy model has been revealed. Paul Davidson reports on the software set to take the industry by storm. Bre has unveiled a prototype version of a software tool that can assess the energy performance of buildings. The tool, commissioned by the ODPM, has been designed to demonstrate a building's compliance with the new Part L of the Building Regulations as well as its rating under the European Union's Energy Performance of Buildings Directive.
