Alsop Architects' proposals for a £250 million hotel development next to Blackfriars Station on the banks of the River Thames have been submitted for planning.rnThe 28,000sq m scheme involves the loss of the 1950s Mermaid Theatre site, which was the subject of a heated campaign by actors and theatre groups.rn"Alsop Architects have designed a unique sculptural building which features a triangulated cladding system and diamond-shaped windows which will allow hotel guests to enjoy views of the Thames," a project spokeswoman said.
