ANSI/ASHRAE/IES RELEASE MAJOR STANDARDS ON ENERGY EFFICIENCY. COMMISSIONING

Energy efficiency and commissioning are the subjects of two important commercial-building standards recently released by ANSI/ASHRAE/IES. Both hold the potential to significantly impact the design, construction, and operation of commercial buildings. A major revision to Standard 90.1, "Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings," incorporates 110 addenda hammered out through public review. Standard 90.1 is widely influential-often referenced in building codes and other standards. The revision is more stringent than the 2010 version, according to Steve Skalko, PE, Principal of RE. and Associates, Macon, Ga., and Chair of the authoring committee.
