Morlands demolition reaches stalemate since occupying protest

The South West Regional Development Agency has agreed to defer demolition of a building on the Morlands site in Glastonbury until Glastonbury Town Council has had time to discuss the issue, following the occupation by protestors.rnThe Agency had announced demolition of the building on Christmas Eve on the grounds that children were putting their lives at risk by entering a dangerous structure. But local people objected and occupied the building, which occupies part of the major site where an Urban Splash development has been awaited for some time.rnFollowing meetings with the Agency andrnundertakings to allow the Town Council discussion and give two weeks notice of any demolition, the protestors agreed to leave the building.
