Inherited debts at Photolibrary 'remain unpaid'

The new owners of a picture library that owned millions of dollars to its contributors have failed to honour their promise to settle the inherited debts, it is claimed.In the latest development of a year-long dispute, Stock Artists Alliance claims that Photolibrary has failed to contact a majority of contributors who are owed between $1000 and $22,000. 'Since July, SAA has randomly contacted 93 Index Stock photographers.Together, [they] represent $435,000 in royalties owed. Only six had been paid without contacting the company; 18 had received payments after complaining; and the remaining 69 have received no payments, nor any notice of past royalties due.'Photolibrary says the allegations are 'misleading and inaccurate', adding that 'this misinformation has led to a significant level of unwarranted contributor concern about the reliability of Photolibrary's royalty payments system overall.'
