In this article, Jane Howarth, Strategic Marketing Manager for Brewing at Pall Food and Beverage* shows how PROFi is consistently demonstrating that DE-free beer filtration is a commercial reality, available, viable and a cost-saving investment for major breweries. Historically, an economically feasible membrane-based solution for mainstream beer clarification has been elusive due to the poor fluxes causes by membrane fouling. The PROFi process described, attempts to minimise fouling by removing the bulk of the particulate matter with a high performance centrifuge before the membrane process.
