摘要

Access to paid leave is crucial for individuals, companies, and the nation. Women with access to paid leave are more likely to remain in the workforce, resulting in less turnover and costly replacements for corporations and institutions. The United States is one of only a handful of countries - the only country in the developed world - that does not offer some form of paid medical leave for workers. Currently, only 40% of the US workforce is covered by the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) which permits unpaid time off for medical and family issues. Furthermore, a mere 12% of US employees have access to paid leave through their employers.
