Oceana Visit

With reference to Geoff Jones' piece on the NAS Oceana Aviation Historical Park in the February issue. My daughter and I visited this collection in the summer of 2008 and can confirm that, as mentioned in the article, some aircraft get different squadron markings applied over time. The F/A-18A Hornet 162454, shown in VF-34 markings, was previously painted up as a VFA-131 aircraft when we were there, while the F-14D Tomcat 164604 was listed with VF-11 marks but we saw it wearing VF-103 markings. With regards to security, as non-US citizens we had to show our passports/photo ID when purchasing our ticket for the bus to take us round the Aviation Historical Park. We also had to take them with us just in case the guards needed proof of identity because the park is located on the base behind the main gate.
