RAF Tornados Bow Out

Tornado flights at RAF Marham ended on March 21 with the disbandment parade of the last two squadrons and final flypasts. Around 850 guests gathered in a hangar to see a parade accompanied by the band of the RAF College, Cranwell. A jet each from IX(B) and 31 Sqns performed the final flights. Chief of the Air Staff, ACM Sir Stephen Hillier was the reviewing officer for the parade and during his inspection presented Operation Shader medals, without clasp, to 12 personnel. The award of this decoration was approved by the Queen in February and is given to personnel assessed as making a significant and direct contribution to Shader, but operating outside of the joint operational area.
