Leyland Trucks and Six Sigma

Once the heart of a mighty truck building empire, Leyland Trucks, which takes its name from the town where the plant still stands today, is now a thriving part of US-based PACCAE's European truck production. It is also the only remaining truck maker in the UK. PACCAR's European operations include Daf Trucks in the Netherlands as well as Foden Trucks and Leyland in the UK. After PACCAR acquired Leyland in 1998 and with it one of the most modern factories in Europe, assembly of Foden trucks was switched from Sandbach in Cheshire, where the company had always been based, to Leyland. Today, the factory produces all the models in the Daf LF light truck range for all markets, all Foden trucks and all right-hand drive Daf CF rigid and articulated models for UK consumption, as well as left-hand drive Daf CF 65 models.
