Australian Wine Industry Stewardship - stake your claim

The new Wine Australia campaign thrives on a fundamental assumption of 'Clean & Green'. But how true is the 'Green' claim? How can the industry as a whole demonstrate to domestic and international markets that this perception is warranted? At the moment, the Australian wine industry as a whole cannot support its claims. The Australian Wine Industry Stewardship (AWIS) project is looking to change that. Other wine-producing countries are already implementing an environmental stewardship-type program - California's Sustainable Winegrowing Program, Sustainable Wine New Zealand and South Africa's Integrated Wine Production. Furthermore, these countries are publicising their stewardship program in the international marketplace -either through actual environmental outcomes or industry participation rates.
