Following the endorsement in August 2010 by the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) of the new national policy on waste and resource recovery, the Federal Government has released a consultation paper providing information on the design of national legislation to introduce product stewardship schemes for the responsible management of products during and at the end-of-life. Product stewardship is one of 16 strategies under the national policy to reduce waste and increase resource recovery. Stakeholders are invited to make submissions on the paper by 10 December 2010.
