Ontario Government Launches Consultations On Legislation to Ban Cosmetic Pesticide Use

OTTAWA-Ontario Environment Minister John Gerretsen Jan.18 launched public consultations on the design of legislation to ban the cosmetic use of pesticides in the province,which he said would be introduced in the provincial legislature in the spring.The Ministry of Environment has posted a notice of proposal on the Environmental Registry inviting public comments and will seek talks with health and environmental groups,agricultural producers,golf course operators,municipalities,the pesticide industry,retailers,and others,Gerretsen said in a statement.
